CN midweek ends
If over the entire year you took away just one thing,
may it be this: Ministers must lead people to Jesus.
All
true
ministers are leaders.
We are called to greater and greater leadership in
ministry. This year at CN midweek we
encouraged you to grow as a leader by developing
the six characteristics of a Christian Leader: A Heart
after God, a Servant's Heart, Courage, Integrity, Vision,
and Wisdom.
Thank you to our fantastic and dedicated Midweek
Ministers. They were a steady and flexible team
of servants. Did you know their ministry cooked and
served about 1,500 ministers this year? That
estimate
doesn't even count the guests served at special
events like the Pastor's Dinner. Thank you!

Church in the summer
Get ready for the summertime pace at Nativity.
Families don't have to race to get here for Religious
Education or morning Mass; instead they plan the day
around the pool. The faces we usually see at 9:00AM
may show up (a little sunburned) at 5:30PM.
Because families get out of their ordinary weekend
routines, the summer tend to be time for commitment-
free
"church shopping." Families throughout the county
roam from church to church looking for one that fits
their schedule and style of worship. So we continue
our
music program, our preaching series, our Creative
Tech Ministry, our hospitality ministries, and most of
our children's ministries as well. When a visitor
comes to Nativity in June or July we will be ready to
welcome
them and serve them and introduce them to Jesus
Christ, who never takes time off. Fortunately he said
to
the Church, "I will be with you always," not "I will be
with you during the school year."
Worship
Don't be surprised when our guests
come straight from York Manor in flipflops or
straight off the ballfield with eye-black and
shinguards. Instead realize that they could have more
easily skipped church altogether. What an honor for
us to welcome them and give them a message they
can use.
Survey
This weekend, please take a few minutes to tell us
about a typical weekend in your household. How
does church fit into your busy
schedule? Surveys available in the Café or at the
Information Desk. Deposit your survey in the black
box inside the Café. With the feedback from these
surveys, expect an improved Mass schedule by
August.
Screen
The projection screen will be reconfigured in the
sanctuary. Two screens will flank the sanctuary. The
crucifix and tabernacle will be positioned behind the
altar. Lighting will be redesigned to enhance the
worship experience.
Lot
The parking lot traffic will ease for a couple of months.
Ministers, we still ask you to please park off campus.
The Mars parking lot is a short walk away. Or find
some shade along the street in the neighborhood.
Offering a parking space near the church is a part of
everyone's ministry to those who are not yet as close
to Christ.
Fountain
The Fountain on the Plaza reminds us of our
Baptismal Promises and the deliverance and renewal
available through Jesus Christ. A water element is
common in church architecture. (Yes, the water
recycles.)

Summertime Small Groups
Your small group has the option to continue meeting
throughout the summer or to take a break and begin
again the fall. Decide with your group how often you
would like to gather -- weekly, every other week, or
just occasionally for a cookout or two. It's a
good time to get to know one another a little more
casually. You could plan to meet at a Christian
concert (like Sara Groves and Derek Webb
at Grace Fellowship on June
6th) or an
outdoor event. Look for a service outing, like
supporting the athletes by cheering at the Special
Olympics today in Owings Mills.
Those who continue to meet during the summer
months can choose their own curriculum or get some
great recommendations from Fellowship
Coordinators
about books or DVDs that will suit your group. Contact
SmallGroups@churchnativity.org for
guidance.
