Small Groups FAQ.

What is a small group?

A small group is a group of 5 to 10 people, who meet to discuss matters of faith and to support one another in their relationship with Christ. It’s the place you connect with other Christians and where our big church gets smaller. It is a small community that helps you live as God created you to live.

What happens in a small group?

Groups begin with snacks and casual conversation then move to a short prayer and teaching time. The teaching usually comes through video curriculum. Group members discuss questions raised by the video and how it applies to their lives. The group ends with a prayer.

How long do meetings last?

Group facilitators are asked to limit meetings to an hour and a half and to only go longer if there is a real need for the group to continue meeting. Facilitators are encouraged to respect people’s time so you can make a commitment to small groups without fear of neglecting other responsibilities.

How do I find a group that works for me?

Click on the find a Small Groups button on our web site – www.churchnativity.org . Once you find a group that works for you submit your information and the group facilitator will contact you.

Can I invite a friend who does not attend Nativity?

Yes, the more the merrier. The material we will be studying is applicable to everyone.

What will we be discussing?

Most groups will discuss material related to our weekend preaching series. Topics look at various issues of faith from a biblical and Catholic perspective. Topics for 2006/2007 year will include the power of words, the afterlife, money and leadership. You can find more information about preaching series at our church web site.

What if our group wants to study something else?

Group facilitators and leaders have freedom to do other studies but check in with Greg Garvin who leads our small group facilitators. During Lent we ask all groups to use the same material to promote unity in the parish.
