What is a Small Group?
5-10 people who meet to discuss faith, go deeper in the weekly message and support one another in their relationship with Christ. Small Groups are not Bible study or Adult Education classes. Small Groups are the place you connect with other Christians and where our big Church gets small and personal.
What happens in a Small Group?
Groups meet in members homes and usually begin with casual conversation, then move to a short prayer time. There is a weekly video presentation available on DVD that corresponds to the weekly message heard in Church on the weekend. Then group members discuss questions provided on the DVD and apply the material to their own lives.
Are Small Groups just discussion groups?
Sometimes Small Groups have fun together, share a meal, or reach out in service projects that our Church sponsors. Small Groups can be the ideal place for Church members to find support, encouragement and care when they are facing challenges. Sometimes great friendships have developed out of our Small Groups.
How long do Small Groups meet?
It's up to each group, but the standard meeting time is 90 minutes. Most groups take breaks for Christmas and in the summertime.
How long is my commitment to Small Groups?
We want to challenge every member to join a Small Group, though we understand that there are times and even seasons of life when this will be difficult. Also some groups end as members move or their situations and schedules change. From time to time people might need a break or a new group. Sometimes groups divide in order to welcome new members. Our Small Group Leadership Team works with group leaders and members to help ensure your group is working for you.
What kind of group can I join?
Groups are arranged around preferred day of the week and time of day, affinity or location. There are men's groups and women's groups, mom's groups, couples, singles and single again groups; there are groups for Seniors, young adults, high school and middle school students.
Are there small groups for teenagers?
You can sign-up your teenagers for small groups here; however, for more information visit our parent's page or contact us at youthsmallgroups@churchnativity.org.
